If you’re considering an office renovation, here are a few things we find contribute to a smooth and successful project:

1. Define your goals.

Every business functions differently. Do you want to build an environment of collaboration? Or will your teams need separation and privacy?  Defining the way you want your office to function is the first step.

2. Make a wish list.

Observe your current work environment - what storage requirements are needed in each department?  Consider printer stations, break, conference and wellness areas.

3. Be honest about the timeline.

Even with a straightforward furniture installation, a variety of factors can affect your order and delivery timing. It’s helpful to map out the timing of each project phase, leaving room for unexpected delays.

4. Identify challenges.

Identify challenges to the project; are there acoustical problems, tight timelines or a current lack of space?  Acknowledging these issues upfront can help the team identify ways to overcome them.

5. Put together an effective team.

Establishing a project team early builds a sense of ownership among stakeholders and builds a foundation of teamwork.  Consider which decision-makers in your business need to be involved and include them in initial meetings with the Design and Construction teams.

6. Plan for growth.

Be realistic, but be sure to consider your company’s growth plan.  Including additional seats you expect to fill in the short term is often more efficient than waiting until you are ready to hire.

The OEX team would love to work alongside you to achieve your workplace goals.  We believe in supporting the people who bring your business to life and in helping you efficiently reach your goals.   We provide creative workplace solutions and tools.  We are everything office.
